Twitter Reacts As CSK Announces Retention List And Faf du Plessis Misses Out

As per various reports, Chennai Super Kings has retained MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali ahead of IPL 2022 Mega Auction. This means that prolific run-scorer and potential captaincy candidate Faf du Plessis may not play for CSK next season. CSK announces retention list

While Ravindra Jadeja was confirmed retention, Ruturaj Gaikwad leapfrogged many with his Orange Cap winning performance in IPL 2021. Also, he is a youngster, and it seems CSK is fully convinced about the opener. It also looks like MS Dhoni would continue playing in the IPL. This will be a huge sigh of relief for his fans. For the team construction also, CSK now need not search for a captain or a wicket-keeper.

Twitter reacts to Faf du Plessis’ exclusion

There were a lot of discussions regarding the fourth retention for CSK. Since it had to be a foreigner, the likes of Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran and Dwayne Bravo were in the discussion. Moeen Ali is now confirmed to have been retained by CSK. Hence, South African batsman Faf du Plessis will now have to enter the auctions.

Faf has been one of the best CSK players in recent years. In IPL 2020, while most others struggled, Faf did well to top the run-charts for his team. In 2021, as well, he was the second-highest run-getter for CSK. Since he had forged a fruitful opening combination, many predicted that CSK would keep it intact.
