The West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo announced last night that he will be playing his last international game for West Indies against Australia in a couple of days’ time, which will also be the last game for the West Indies in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
West Indies has already been eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2021 and given the fact that they need to build a team for the future, a 38-year-old Bravo has decided that he needs to move on.
Dwayne Bravo was a part of the T20 World Cup winning squads of West Indies in 2012 and 2016 and played a key part in both the campaigns with bat and ball. Taking up the crucial roles of batting in the lower middle order and bowling in the death, Bravo has been an absolute pillar of West Indies’ success in T20 cricket over the years.
Although he is in the twilight of his career now, Bravo is still an absolute asset for any T20 team around the world and only recently, he has had two title-winning campaigns on the bounce in the CPL and the IPL with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) respectively.
Dwayne Bravo was again the dependable death bowler for West Indies in T20 World Cup 2021
Even in the ongoing T20 World Cup, the West Indies captain Kieron Pollard regularly relied on Dwayne Bravo to bowl the tough death overs against some of the dangerous power hitters in the world, and the veteran all-rounder didn’t do a bad job again.
Bravo, so far, has played 90 T20 internationals for West Indies and has got 78 wickets to go with his 1245 runs as well, but it’s not just the number of runs or the number of wickets that defines Bravo’s legacy, it’s the impact that those runs and wickets made for his side which makes him such a legendary T20 cricketer.
