For over half a decade now, winning the Champions League has been considered as the pinnacle of club football. The phrase “Defence wins you tournaments” has been often used in football but several teams have won the Champions League by playing scintillating, attacking football. This list consists of five such teams which have consistently enthralled their fans by scoring tons of goals in Europe,

5. Juventus – 439 goals
The Old lady is more renowned for its defensive solidity than attacking prowess but it has boasted of some clinical strikers such as Roberto Baggio, David Trezeguet, and Alessandro Del Piero.
They have scored most of their goals against teams from Spain with 90 goals in 73 games against Spanish clubs. The top scorer for the Bianconeri in Europe is Alessandro Del Piero with 53 goals from 130 games
4. Manchester United – 506 goals
The Red Devils’ goal-scoring record is astonishing considering they have played the UCL/European Cup only 26 times in their illustrious history. Most of their best performances in Europe have come under Sir Alex Ferguson, under whom they won two Champions League trophies.
Anderlecht and Benfica have been at the receiving end of some brilliant attacking football from Manchester United. The Red Devils have scored 25 goals against both of them, their personal record against a single club in Europe.
3. FC Barcelona – 630 goals
In the 21st century, Only Real Madrid have won more UCL titles than Barcelona. In 1992, Johan Cruyff’s dream team beat Sampdoria 1-0 in the final to lift their maiden UCL trophy.
Barcelona scored 45 goals in 16 matches in the 1999/00 UCL season, a record for a single season in the Champions League. Lionel Messi is their all-time top scorer with 114 goals.
2. Bayern Munich – 708 goals
In the ’70s and ’80s, Bayern Munich was the club to beat in Europe due to the presence of the unstoppable Gerd Muller and the legendary Franz Beckenbauer.
Their top scorer in European Cup is Gerd Muller with 34 goals. Bayern’s favorite opponents are Arsenal with 27 goals coming against them while they have scored 109 goals against English teams.
1. Real Madrid – 972 goals
Several goalscoring records in Europe belong to Real Madrid including a hat trick in the final. All three hat tricks in the final have come from Real Madrid players with Puskas doing it in 1960 and 1962 and Alfredo di Stefano scoring one in 1960.
Far and above everyone else in the goal-scoring charts is Real Madrid with a whopping 972 goals. Their highest goalscorer is Cristiano Ronaldo with 105 goals in just 101 appearances.
