Gunther has created history with his reign as the WWE Intercontinental Champion. He has joined the list of longest reigning WWE Intercontinental Champions of all time as he has held the title for more than a year now.
It is pertinent to note that this is Gunther’s first reign as a champion on the WWE main roster. Current AEW Star Chris Jericho owns the record for the most Intercontinental Championship reigns in WWE with nine. Here’s a list of the top five longest reigning WWE Intercontinental Champions of all time.
5. One of the longest reigning WWE Intercontinental Champions – Don Moraco, 384 days
Don Moraco is one of the five Superstars to have held the title for more than a year. Moraco won the title on January 22, 1983 on WWF on MSG Network in New York. WWE recognizes his reign as 384 days.

As of this writing, Gunther has held the title for 385 days. If he does not lose his championship on RAW tonight, he will surpass the 385-day mark and inch closer towards the top spot in this list. Gunther won the title on SmackDown on June 10, 2022.
3. Randy Savage, 414 days
Randy Savage stands third on this list. He is one of the three men to have had a reign of more than 400 days. Randy won the title on February 8, 1986 at WWF on NESN. He lost it after 414 days.
2. Pedro Morales, 424 days
Pedro Morales was the first Superstar to hold the Intercontinental Championship for more than 400 days. He won the crown on November 23, 1981 at WWF on MSG Network and stayed as champion for 424 days.
1. The Honky Tonk Man, 454 days
Gunther is the fourth longest reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion at 385 days, beating Don Muracos reign at 384 days.

The self-proclaimed greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time, The Honky Tonk Man owns the record for the longest reign in WWE history. He held the title for 454 days, having won it at Superstars of Wrestling on June 2, 1987.
