Top 4 best returns to WWE since 2020

WWE has seen an array of superstars make a mark on the landscape with their impeccable return to the company after an extended break. The time off often helps superstars to reassess their current run and build new strategies going forward.

With some compelling returns that the WWE witnessed at the onset of a new decade, here are the top 4 best ones from a pool of spectacular WWE comebacks:

1. Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns went on hiatus at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 for nearly six months. However, at SummerSlam that year, he returned to the company under a brand new ruthless gimmick of The Tribal Chief assaulting The Fiend and Braun Strowman after their title match to make a huge impact. This return would set the tone for a nearly four-year-long reign at the top of the mountain and establish him as one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time.

2. CM Punk

CM Punk left WWE in 2014 citing health issues and creative frustrations with the company. After nearly a decade later, which included a failed MMA stint and lackluster AEW run, The Best in the World made his shocking return to WWE in 2023 at the end of Survivor Series. Punk’s return was met with a thunderous response and since then each of his appearances has done great numbers despite being out with an injury, proving his power as a major draw.

3. Cody Rhodes

Much like CM Punk, Cody Rhodes left WWE in 2016 to undergo a major resurgence and return to the global juggernaut as a top-level star in 2022. For two years, he emerged as a major attraction and reached the pinnacle of sports entertainment at WrestleMania 40 by dethroning Roman Reigns to become World Champion and beginning his road as the next potential face of the company.

4. The Rock

The Rock made his return to WWE at the start of 2024 to become an integral part of the road to WrestleMania 40. Moreover, he introduced the word to his new Final Boss gimmick commanded major eyeballs for the company, and proved to be a roaring success among the fans, making this return for The Rock most memorable than his previous comebacks in WWE.
