“They Are Doing What We Do In Street Cricket”- Twitter Reacts As Ravichandran Ashwin Is Retired Out In IPL 2022

Ravichandran Ashwin is a player who always loves to do different things in the IPL. He has added one more thing to that list as the Rajasthan Royals decided to retire him out during the match against the Lucknow Super Giants. RR surprisingly sent Ashwin to bat at number six in their IPL match against LSG.

The Rajasthan Royals all-rounder played a decent knock of 28 runs off 23 deliveries. Ashwin smashed two sixes in his IPL innings. However, in the slog overs, RR decided to send Riyan Parag in the middle because he has a better strike rate than Ashwin.

For the first time in a long time, fans saw a player going back to the dressing room as retired out and not retired hurt. Ashwin had an impressive partnership with Shimron Hetmyer for the fifth wicket before he returned to the dressing room.

Hetmyer was the hero for the Rajasthan Royals. The team was 67/4 at one moment but ended with a solid total of 165/6 in 20 overs. Hetmyer scored 59 runs off 36 balls, smashing one four and six sixes. Speaking to host broadcaster after the first innings, Hetmyer said:

“It was a little difficult to start. Their spinners bowled the ball in some really good areas. It wasn’t the easiest pitch to start on – it stayed on the slower side to start off. It was about staying until the end and cashing in later on.”
