On 10th January 2023, the first edition of the SA20 League would begin. The first match would involve MI Cape Town taking on the Paarl Royals. Recently, there was a report on the commentary panel for the tournament. Here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted to the potential list of commentators for the inaugural SA20 league.
Start of a new era of South African cricket
South African Cricket is in desperate need of direction. Although the team has done well in patches, it is yet to reach a level wherein they can win trophies. On the other hand, from a commercial angle, as well, the board needs some breathing space. Considering all these factors, the board has announced its own franchise-based domestic T20 league called the SA20 League.
Owners of IPL franchises have invested in the tournament. Teams were announced and auctions also happened a few months ago. Along with South African stars, other top overseas players such as Rashid Khan, Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer will also be a part of the tournament.
Twitter reacts to the likely list of commentators for the inaugural SA20 league
One of the biggest interests in the SA20 League is the broadcast. The viewership of the tournament will add a lot to in which direction the competition will travel. For the broadcast to be good, it is necessary to have a top commentary panel. In other leagues, it has been seen multiple times as to how not-so-good broadcasters have changed the experience of the proceedings. However, it seems the SA20 League will be devoid of the problem. Although not official, a reliable source recently posted a tweet about the commentary panel for the league. Herschelle Gibbs also reacted to it. It is an elite panel and will be a joy for the fans. Here is how Twitter reacted to the same:

The commentary team must also be Locals. Zimbabwean and all foreign guys should be guests. We should use all available platforms to create jobs and have our ex players earning something

@JonKent23 I haven't seen any commentary lists, but it would be sad if there was just a whole bunch of overseas commentators flown in. They do not have the same knowledge of our players as our local broadcasters do.
