The 54th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is underway right now at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where the Royal Challengers Bangalore are playing against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. RCB won the toss and opted to bat first. Dinesh Karthik stole the show in the final overs of the innings with a spectacular finish.
Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis opened the innings for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Unfortunately, Kohli got out off the first ball of the innings bowled by J Suchith. But du Plessis held one end and stitched up a magnificent partnership of 105 runs for the second wicket with youngster Rajat Patidar.
Glenn Maxwell then played an impressive inning of 33 runs off 24 deliveries. He whacked three fours and two maximums for RCB. Dinesh Karthik came in next and blew away the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling attack. He smacked four sixes and a boundary in his eight-ball 30* as RCB finished with 192/3 in 20 overs despite being 0/1 at one stage.
Speaking with the host broadcasters after the first innings, Rajat Patidar was quoted as saying as follows:
“Looking at the wicket, chasing 193 won’t be easy. It’s two-paced and it will only get slower. There was no pressure. I was a bit nervous since the wicket fell on the first ball. The aim was just to stick around and have a partnership. I just play the ball on its merit. It’s a great deal to finish the game.”

Dinesh Karthik has made these kind of finishes look so easy to the eye and count the number of times he has done it. Truly trying to fill the void of AB de Villiers here.
