When he was 14 years old, in a Haris Shield game, Shaw scored 546 runs in 330 balls to claim the Indian record for the highest score in minor cricket. It was due to that knock most took notice of the Mumbai cricketer’s talent.
Now, in an interaction on The Grade Cricketer podcast, the player revealed some interesting facts about that knock. He said, “I was dropped twice. There was a record of Brian Lara sir, I think 444 in domestic cricket. I was on 443 and my dad shouted, “you need one run to Brian Lara’s record.” I was like, “okay, fine.” Then, on the next ball, one of the guys dropped my catch! The next highest score was 255. Our team total of 998. They got all out on around 110, the first day at lunch. We batted the whole day; the next day till the end, and the morning session.”
Rovman reacts to Prithvi’s incredible feat
Rovman Powell, who is finding his groove in IPL 2022, was there along with Prithvi and David Warner on the show. Knowing about the youngster’s story, the big-hitting West Indian reacted hilariously to it. He said, “That’s cruelty at that level. Guys in the sun for so long. I’m sure in Jamaica, if that happened, the opposing team will call off the players. They would start to get ridiculous. The coach would say, ‘come, we don’t want any more of this.”
Well, Delhi Capitals is definitely in need of Prithvi Shaw to turn up with that kind of form. With David Warner and Rovman Powell also finding form, DC has one of the best batting attacks right now.
