Indian Cricket Team produced a scintillating performance in the first Test against Australia in Nagpur and take a 1-0 lead in the series. They outclassed the visitors with both bat and ball and bagged the game by a huge margin of innings and 132 runs.
Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. However, it wasnโt a fruitful outing for them with the bat as they were bundled out for just 177 runs. The brilliance of Ravindra Jadeja, who took a fifer, was too much for them to handle. Steve Smith (37) and Marnus Labuschagne (49) were the two batters who looked settled to some extent.
But they failed to convert the starts they got. R Ashwin too was among the wickets as he bagged a three-wicket haul and helped his side rattle the opposition for a low total. Indian batters then too struggled to get going but skipper Rohit Sharma (120) stood tall and smashed a century.
Ravindra Jadeja (70) and Axar Patel (84) then contributed down the order and smashed brilliant half-centuries to put their side in a great position. Mohammad Shami complimented them well and played a cameo of 37 runs that helped India take a lead of over 220 runs and post 400 runs on the board in second innings.
R Ashwin then shined with the ball as he picked his 31st five-wicket haul in the Tests and put Australia in all sorts of trouble. He was well supported by Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami, who took two wickets each and helped their side win the game by a huge margin of innings and 132 runs. Notably, India bundled out the opposition in just one session.
