“Virat Kohli can touch 50 Hundreds in ODI in 2023,” says Sanjay Bangar
The road to Cricket World Cup 2023 for the Indian Cricket Team is about to get begin. The ICC tournament is slated to take place in India in October and November. 2022 wasn’t the kind of year that Men in Blue would’ve wanted and therefore they would be hoping for normalcy to return in 2023.
Their journey begins with the ODI series against Sri Lanka in January. They will host the Island nation for the three games. The first match will be played in Guwahati on 10th January followed by the second and third games to be played on 12th January and 15th January in Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram.
After that, they will host New Zealand for the three-match series as well. The first match will be played on the 18th of January in Hyderabad with the second and third games slated to take place on the 21st and 24th of January in Raipur and Indore.
They will also face Australia and West Indies in three-match ODI series each before travelling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. They are then slated to play Australia again in three ODIs, which will be the last series before the World Cup.
With India set to play over 25 ODIs ahead of the Cricket World Cup, it’ll be a great opportunity for senior Indian batters, especially Virat Kohli to assert their authority. The right-hander ended his century drought in ODIs after August 2019. It was a sensational innings by him against Bangladesh as returned to form and staggeringly crafted his innings to pave his way through the 44th ton in ODIs.
Kohli is now only behind great Sachin Tendulkar in terms of centuries and it’s a no-brainer that he can surpass batting great as well as he continues playing with the same intensity. He currently has 44 centuries in ODIs and is just 6 tons away from scripting history.
Sanjay Bangar also feels that Kohli can surpass 50 centuries in the ODIs in 2022. Speaking to Star Sports, he said: “Virat Kohli can touch 50 Hundreds in ODI in 2023.”
