Yuzvendra Chahal has become the talk of the town with his sensational performances in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. Playing for the Rajasthan Royals, he has been in top form and is currently the Purple Cap owner in IPL 2022. Chahal has taken a big lead on the Purple Cap standings, thanks to his five-wicket haul against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Earlier in the evening, the Rajasthan Royals received an invitation to bat first from the Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer. It was a batting paradise, and Jos Buttler made good use of the conditions, registering his second century of IPL 2022. His 103-run knock guided the Royals to a 217-run score in the first innings.
In reply, the Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a shaky start as they lost the wicket of Sunil Narine on the first ball. But captain Shreyas Iyer and opener Aaron Finch rescued KKR with a 107-run partnership inside nine overs. Finch departed to the dressing room, but Iyer held one end and took the score closer to the target.
Yuzvendra Chahal then turned the match upside down by taking four wickets in the 17th over. He dismissed Venkatesh Iyer on the first ball stumped out. After that, on the last three balls of his over, he trapped Shreyas in front of his stumps and then got Shivam Mavi and Pat Cummins caught out.
Speaking to host broadcasters after his team’s defeat, Shreyas Iyer said:

Yuzvendra Chahal went for just INR 6.5 crore in the auction. Mumbai Indians bid for him till 6.25 cr and let it go. RCB never bid for him (after apparently telling him they would)
