2 opening combinations Mumbai Indians could try if Rohit Sharma bats at No.3 for next game against RCB

Rohit Sharma did not open in the previous game against CSK. This move was coming due to his poor form. This might continue, as well, for the team’s next game against RCB. Rohit Sharma could bat at No.3 or might push himself further down the order depending on the situation. Here, we take a look at two opening combinations Mumbai Indians could try if Rohit Sharma bats at No.3 for the next game against RCB.

1) Cameron Green and Ishan Kishan

With Rohit not walking out to open, it was Cameron Green and Ishan Kishan who did the honours against CSK. However, this move did not help MI as both players lost their wickets early. That said, the franchise could try this again against RCB.

At the Wankhede Stadium against a not-so-confident RCB attack, the likes of Green and Ishan could click together. Anyways, this combination is the future of the franchise and hence, the management will look to back the duo with the responsibility.

2) Dewald Brevis and Ishan Kishan

The duo of Dewald Brevis and Ishan Kishan is one of the opening combinations Mumbai Indians could try if Rohit Sharma bats at No.3 for the next game against RCB. MI is not playing any overseas seamer apart from Jofra Archer. In that case, they can afford a foreign batter and it was Tristan Stubbs against CSK. It was more of a forced selection because Tilak Varma was not available.

If this continues, MI could rather try Brevis at the top of the order. It would be a natural position for the teenager. RCB also does not have a bowling attack that can exploit the weakness of the player. Even if spin comes on in the powerplay, Brevis can play it with ease. This would also allow MI to strengthen their batting in the middle-order with the likes of Rohit Sharma and Cameron Green.
