3 Players CSK Could Sign As Replacement If Deepak Chahar Misses IPL 2022

In a heartbreaking development for all the Chennai Super Kings fans, the team’s pace-bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar has reportedly been ruled out of the initial phases of IPL 2022. According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, Chahar could miss most part of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.

It is still unclear whether he will miss the full season because the report states that the Chennai Super Kings team management is awaiting a word from the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru where Chahar is undergoing his rehab. Since it is a T20 World Cup year, it will be interesting to see if Deepak is cleared for the IPL.

Considering that there is a possibility of him being ruled out of IPL 2022, here are the top three players whom CSK can sign as a replacement.

1. Suresh Raina can replace Deepak Chahar in the CSK squad

The Chennai Super Kings raised quite a few eyebrows when they decided against bidding for their veteran player Suresh Raina at the IPL 2022 Auction. Interestingly, none of the other teams bid for him as well as he went unsold at a base price of INR 2 crore. Looking at the reaction from the fans and considering that IPL matches will happen in Mumbai, CSK should think of bringing Raina back.

2. Dhawal Kulkarni

In case the Chennai Super Kings decide to sign an Indian fast bowler as a replacement, Dhawal Kulkarni will be a fantastic choice because he has a lot of IPL experience. Also, he has played a lot of cricket in Mumbai which will be an advantage.

3. Ishant Sharma

MS Dhoni has played a lot of cricket with Ishant Sharma. He knows how to get the best out of him. Since CSK prefer experienced names, they can sign Ishant as a replacement for the injured Deepak Chahar if needed.
