WWE Extreme Rules 2022: 5 Big Matches That Could Happen On The Next PPV

Fresh off the boat from travelling across the seas to Clash at the Castle, WWE has to gear up now for its next PPV, Extreme Rules, which is going to happen in October 2022.

The event reserved this year at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania happens every year around the same time. Although no matches have been booked yet for the extreme PPV, we have some predictions and judging by the rivalries brewing among the wrestlers, here are 5 big matches that could happen at WWE Extreme Rules 2022:

1. Edge vs Dominik Mysterio could happen at WWE Extreme Rules 2022

Dominik turned heel in Cardiff and even attacked his father after low blowing Edge, after they had won their match against Judgment Day. On the next RAW, Edge called out Dominik and he showed up as a formally joined member of the heel faction and helped them attack Edge again.

All this animosity between him and the Rated-R Superstar can only lead to a match between them at Extreme Rules. It could be extreme rules match as well so that Edge can have some equalizer against the numbers game. It can even be a handicap tag team match, where Edge and Rey face all 3 male members of Judgment Day, or they get a female superstar with them and even Rhea Ripley can be in a match. Lots of possibilities.

2. Brawling Brutes vs Imperium could happen at WWE Extreme Rules 2022

Sheamus’ Brawling Brutes, Ridge Holland and Butch, faced off against Gunther’s Imperium, Ludwig Kaiser and a returning Giovanni Vinci, in an out of the ring brawl while their leaders battled each other for Intercontinental Gold.

Sheamus may have fallen short that night, but the crowd’s emotional reaction can make WWE to let him continue his pursuit for the title. He also lacks this very belt to be a Grand Slam champion. This rivalry between the European factions may lead to a 6-man tag match at Extreme Rules.

3. Bayley vs Bianca Belair could take place at WWE Extreme Rules 2022

When Damage Control, Bayley, IYO SKY and Dakota Kai, defeated Bianca Belair, Asuka and Alexa Bliss at the Clash at the Castle, it automatically set up a match between the captains Bayley and Belair.

As pointed out by Michael Cole, Bayley deserves a title shot on Belair’s RAW Women’s championship because it was her who pinned the champ. This title match was initially supposed to happen last year but got postponed due to Bayley’s injury. Bayley has taunted Bianca on the next RAW in a promo and it seems these two will face each other at Extreme Rules, with Gold on the line.

4. Bobby Lashley vs Braun Strowman

Now this one is completely in our imagination but with Braun Strowman making an impactful surprise return on the recent RAW, we can’t help but wonder what’s in store for the Monster Among Men. He has been away for a year and needs to make up for lost time and not just be involved in a lackluster storyline or a lukewarm feud. He can challenge the All Mighty United States Champion Bobby Lashley for his US Title and give the WWE Universe an epic Clash of the Titans at Extreme Rules.

Bobby Lashley also hasn’t been making a lot of impact in his title reign. He wasn’t even on the card at Clash at The Castle. Therefore, this feud would mean significant exposure for the champ as well. And quite frankly, if someone is physically capable enough of presenting a believable challenge to The Monster Among Men, it is the All Mighty.

5. Drew McIntyre vs Karrion Kross

Karrion Kross made a statement on his return, against Drew McIntyre, last month when he attacked and left him incapacitated on the floor. He has since been sending video messages and warnings on SmackDown every week warning the Scottish Warrior of his impending doom. He was even present in the front row during the title match between McIntyre and Reigns, trying to distract the challenger. This match is meant to be.

And if rumors from dirt sheets are to be believed, these bulls are colliding at Extreme Rules. This would be a good match too because Kross hasn’t been tested against top level talent earlier and McIntyre has dearth of fresh opponents. This match should be a show stealer.

Also let’s not forget storylines from SmackDown which will lead to match ups at Extreme Rules, definitely involving a certain Tribal Chief for sure.
