3 franchises that can target Mitchell Starc for IPL 2024

After nine long years, Mitchell Starc has reportedly decided to play in the Indian Premier League. The pacer is of the opinion that playing in the IPL would help him in the preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup. As we all know, Starc is an elite cricketer and many franchises would be in line to sign the Aussie. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three franchises that can target Mitchell Starc for IPL 2024.

1) Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have the possibility of having Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer in the pace attack for IPL 2024. The franchise follows the strategy of having two foreign pacers. MI is known to sign big-name cricketers and hence, they can sign Starc.

Having Starc bowl in the powerplay would help MI free up Bumrah and Archer for the remaining overs. Therefore, tactically, as well, Starc’s signing makes sense for Mumbai.

2) Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB is one of the franchises that can target Mitchell Starc for IPL 2024. The Australian cricketer played only for RCB in the IPL. He was successful for the franchise and it might not be a surprise if the team goes again for him.

RCB tried the likes of David Willey, Reece Topley and Wayne Parnell during the powerplay in IPL 2023. However, none of them were consistent while Topley and Willey faced injuries. Starc would be an ideal fit in this regard. He would also be the best partner for Mohammed Siraj in the powerplay.

3) Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR signed Starc for IPL 2018 but the player pulled out. It led to a lot of controversies. If the relationship is mended right now, KKR can go for the player again.

They need an overseas pacer, more so if the player is a left-arm pacer. This would add strength and variety to the pace attack. The best option in the market is Starc and hence, KKR can target him.
