3 big mistakes that the Rajasthan Royals management made before IPL 2025

It is clear that it was at the auction and before that that where Rajasthan Royals lost their way. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three big mistakes that the Rajasthan Royals management made before IPL 2025.

1) Retaining Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel ahead of Jos Buttler

In hindsight, it is too easy to comment on this. However, even when the retentions were announced, many were surprised that RR had Jurel and Hetmyer but not Buttler.

For his experience and value in the powerplay, Buttler must be preferred over at least one of Jurel or Hetmyer. The left-out player could have been targeted at the auctions.

2) Buying only 6 foreign players is one of the mistakes the Rajasthan Royals management made

This was another mistake that RR made. The management wanted a foreign bowling attack and an Indian batting unit.

However, in the bowling unit, there is no one consistent apart from Jofra Archer. RR could have easily added two more options in this regard.

3) Going with a complete foreign spin attack

Unless the spinners are of the calibre of Rashid Khan or Sunil Narine, foreign spinners are never feasible in the IPL. However, Rajasthan went ahead with two spinners who did not fall in this calibre.

And the combination was such that these spinners had to be a part of the XI. This was a grave mistake made by the side which had R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal in the last cycle.
