IPL 2022 Mega Auction is one of the most-awaited events. Fans from across the world are looking forward to it. Delhi Capitals will have to make some tough decisions. BCCI may allow only three players to be retained. So, DC may have to let go of some big names.
DC may retain Iyer, Pant and Dhawan. Prithvi Shaw is another option. Even Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje are there. Thus, DC may have to release some big names. To make up for their released, DC might target the following six stars.
1. DC might target Chris Lynn at IPL 2022 Mega Auction
Chris Lynn is with MI right now. But Mumbai have benched him. MI have preferred Quinton de Kock over him. It is likely that MI may release Lynn. Hence, quite a few teams may go after him.
If DC release Shaw or Dhawan, they may need an opener. Lynn could be a great choice. He has much T20 experience under his belt. He has done well in the BBL. Also, in IPL, he has scored 1,329 runs in 42 games, including ten fifties.
2. Rahul Tewatia
Rahul Tewatia played for DC till 2019. After that, he became a part of RR. Tewatia became a match-winner for RR. The all-rounder did well with the bat and ball. His strike rate was close to 140.
He took a 3-wicket haul against CSK. Also, he stitched good partnerships in the middle. Tewatia could be a decent addition to DC. He can turn the game any moment with his skills.
3. Chris Morris
Another RR player present on this list is Chris Morris. The South African all-rounder has also played for DC in the past. In 2021, he was the most expensive pick. Morris did well for RR in both departments. It is tough to find a player like him.
Since he knows the conditions in Delhi well, DC might target him. When he was a part of Delhi, Morris played 34 matches. He scored 427 runs at a 160+ strike rate. He also took 41 wickets, with best figures being 4/26.
4. DC might go after Dale Steyn at IPL 2022 Mega Auction
If Morris goes out of budget, DC might go after another Proteas pacer. He is none other than Dale Steyn. The right-arm pacer has played for RCB. He has also been a part of GL, DC and SRH.
Steyn has 97 IPL wickets to his name. He has been very successful in India. Since he has experience under his belt, he can do well for the team. Also, Steyn himself has clarified that he is willing to play another season. So, he could be a good pick.
5. Nitish Rana
Nitish Rana is one of the top uncapped Indian players. He is hopeful of playing for India soon. Rana has been a part of KKR and MI in IPL. The southpaw can play some big knocks. He has the ability to hit the ball hard.
Rana can be a game-changer for Delhi. He plays for Delhi in domestic cricket. Hence, he will have much knowledge about the conditions in Delhi. He has 1,638 IPL runs in 67 matches. His strike rate in the competition has been 133.82.
6. Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell could be the wildcard pick for DC. He has played for this franchise before. He looked in great touch in IPL 2021. Perhaps, RCB might release him. They may retain the trio of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Devdutt Padikkal.
Maxwell can perform well in the middle-order for Delhi. The reason behind buying Maxwell could be because DC may have to release Stoinis and Hetmyer. In case they cannot get them back, Maxwell could be a decent choice. It will be interesting to see what happens at IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
