Rene Dupree, a former tag team champion, has a hypothesis about Nia Jax’s rehiring by WWE. He says it might have been a favour for The Rock, who is her cousin.

In November 2021, Nia Jax, who had been a WWE combatant for almost seven years, was let go from her contract. She unexpectedly returned to the red brand, though, not long after The Rock, her cousin, made his first SmackDown debut in four years.

During a recent episode of his Cafe de Rene podcast, Dupree playfully speculated that WWE might have rehired Jax at The Rock’s request. In a humorous reenactment of a potential phone call between The Rock and Vince McMahon, Dupree and his guest, Jason Sensation, painted a comical picture of the scenario.

Dupree, channeling The Rock, jokingly stated, “Hey, Vince! You wanna buy another company? These guys from Endeavor, they just called me. They want me to show up on SmackDown.” He continued, “Well, I’d like to, but [I] got a favor for you. My cousin Nia needs a job.”

Did The Rock bring Nia Jax back to WWE?

Although this explanation offers some entertaining conjecture, the real motives for Nia Jax’s return are yet unknown. It’s important to keep in mind, though, that relationships with powerful WWE figures and family members may result in unexpected outcomes.

Jim Cornette, a wrestling veteran, also chimed in on Nia Jax’s return during an episode of his Drive Thru podcast. He questioned whether The Rock would go to such lengths for one family member and pondered if it was simply a coincidence. Cornette playfully mused, “Would The Rock help someone if there wasn’t a camera there to film him doing it?”

Fans will be interested to see how Nia Jax’s journey in WWE’s red brand develops as the plot continues to unfold. Nia Jax’s homecoming has undoubtedly stirred discussions and rumours among the wrestling industry.
