3 cricketers who could be groomed as the next white-ball captain of England

England has to identify a new candidate who can take over from Jos Buttler in the future. Moeen Ali is old and the other options also don’t fit the criteria from an age perspective. Hence, the challenge will be hard for the management to find the next skipper. Here, we take a look at three cricketers who could be groomed as the next white-ball captain of England.

1) Sam Curran

Sam Curran got dropped midway through the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, that should not take away the fact that he is one of the promising youngsters in the game right now. It is just that he is going through a tough phase.

Sam would be an ideal candidate to lead England in the future. He already has plenty of experience and the management must look to groom him quickly.

2) Zak Crawley

Zak Crawley is one of the cricketers who could be groomed as the next white-ball captain of England. The cricketer led England recently in the Ireland ODI series. It is clear that he is in the plans to lead England in the future.

However, first, he must cement a place in the starting XI. If England can give him a good run of games, Zak can prove himself in the white-ball formats. He can then be trusted to take up the captaincy mantle in a few years.

3) Harry Brook

The obvious and more likely choice would be Harry Brook. The talented cricketer recently signed a three-year deal with the ECB. He is the future of the English batting unit across all the formats.

Brook still needs to clean out the rough edges in his batting. If he can do that soon, he shall be on his way to achieve greatness for his country and himself. Hence, he is on this list.
