Dale Steyn picks ideal replacement of Jasprit Bumrah for T20 World Cup 2022

While the Indian selectors are still contemplating who should be the replacement of Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, Dale Steyn has put forward his opinion and has said that he would prefer Mohammed Shami as Bumrah’s replacement, if Shami is fit.
Mohammed Shami recently suffered COVID and although he has recovered from it now, he didn’t travel with the Indian team to Australia as he has not yet got his medical clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He is, however, supposed to get that soon and will likely join the Indian squad in Australia in a few days.
But currently Shami is among the three reserve players that the Indian selectors have named for the T20 World Cup 2022. He is not among the 15 players who are in the main squad.
According to Dale Steyn, who was speaking on Star Sports, Bumrah had a lot of experience of bowling in different situations and the batsmen around the world played him with a lot of caution and probably a bit of fear.

Steyn insisted if the Indian selectors have to look for Bumrah’s replacement, it has to be Shami because he is also very experienced and when there is a requirement to bowl fast, he has got it in him to crank up high speeds. And to go with his pace, Shami can also move the ball in the air and off the pitch.

Dale Steyn admitted that India has got a few other options on the table as well. They have got a swing bowler like Deepak Chahar, someone like Mohammed Siraj can also bowl with good pace and Avesh Khan is a tall, hit the deck bowler. But, since India are looking for an experienced bowler right now for a big tournament, Shami would be the right choice.
