Here Is The Reason Why Ramiz Raja’s 4-Nation Tournament Proposal Got Rejected

Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chairman Ramiz Raja has come up with a plan. He wants the International Cricket Council to organize a quadrangular series every year between India, Australia, Pakistan and England. The revenue generated from the competition would go to ICC and all members of the council.

According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, four council members have shown support to the idea pitched by Ramiz Raja. The four members are Cricket Australia, England and Wales Cricket Board, Cricket West Indies and Pakistan Cricket Board.

The BCCI is reportedly not against the idea but it has not shown any support to it as well. Fans should note that two and a half years ago, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly himself claimed that he is planning to organize an annual Super Series featuring India, Australia, England and a fourth team.

However, the latest update is that the proposal has been rejected. Here is the reason behind it, as reported by PTI:

“In any case, ICC’s Financial and Commercial Affairs Committee (F&CA) was against this proposal. As we know that the MPA (Members Participation Agreement) doesn’t allow any member nation to host more than tri-nation, organizing four-nation every year would have in any case devalued ICC’s own marquee events.”

Ramiz Raja’s plan might change now because the ICC does not allow 4-nation series

Three of the four members, namely Pakistan, England and Australia were ready for the annual quadrangular series. The fourth and the most important member is India because the viewership for cricket is the maximum in India. Also, more fans will tune in to watch the series because of the India vs Pakistan matches.

However, the BCCI was neutral in that matter. So, now there is a possibility that Pakistan may try to conduct a tri-nation tournament featuring the Australian team and the England team.
