Team India took the first lead in the series by beating Australia by an innings and 132 runs in the Nagpur Test match. Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Axar Patel performed really well for India.
Jadeja took his 11th fifer in Test cricket while also scoring a half-century in the first innings. On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin ended up with eight wickets in the Test match and also reached the milestone of 450 Test wickets.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored his ninth Test century and went on to become the first Indian captain to have scored a century across all formats of the game. Axar Patel also looked good for his crucial half-century in the game.
These pivotal contributions from the players helped the team churn out a positive result against the Aussies in the first Test. Meanwhile, the cricketing action shifts to the second Test match, which will get underway on February 17, Friday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Team India have never lost a Test in Delhi since 1987
It is worth mentioning that Delhi has been a fortress for India as far as Test cricket is concerned. The fact that they haven’t lost a Test in the national capital since 1987 goes to show how incredibly they have performed over the decades.
Netizens have been coming up with interesting reactions to this stat. The last time when India lost a Test match in Delhi, Sachin Tendulkar was yet to make his debut for India and Virat Kohli was not born.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma was seven years old at that time. Team India’s record of remaining unbeaten in Tests in Delhi for 36 years still remains intact and they will be looking forward to maintaining the unbeaten record by putting up yet another clinical and strong performance on the field.
