With the emergence of T20 cricket, it is now a necessity to draw a clear line between the red-ball and the white-ball formats. Hence, cricket boards are going ahead with the idea of having a split-coaching system. It is very active right now in the game. Here, we take a look at three International Cricket teams that have a different Head Coach for white-ball and red-ball squads.

1) England

Red-Ball Coach: Brendon McCullum || White-Ball Coach: Matthew Mott

England is one of the high-profile teams to have this approach. This happened after the drop in the form of the team a few months ago. This is clearly working for them in Tests, with McCullum doing a great job.

Mott has plenty of experience and success as a white-ball coach. He already won the T20 World Cup and the next assignment will be the ODI World Cup 2023.

2) West Indies

Red-Ball Coach: Andre Coley || White-Ball Coach: Daren Sammy

West Indies is one of the International Cricket teams that have a different Head Coach for white-ball and red-ball squads. The squad needs a proper transition and it is good that they have opted for this approach for the team.

Daren Sammy will bring plenty of experience into the setup. Coley has anyways been involved with the white-ball set-up for a while. It would take time for them to find talent and groom them but this is the best time to start.

3) South Africa

Red-Ball Coach: Shukri Conrad || White-Ball Coach: Rob Walter

With the resignation of Mark Boucher, South Africa also had to hire a coach for the side. Interestingly, they decided to give chances to those coaches who have been doing well in the domestic circuit.

It needs to be seen if this works out for them. Lance Klusener was also an option for the team but he decided to coach only T20 franchises.
