“Nobody hits sixes like me, I hit sixes very easily,” Ishan Kishan says he doesn’t think much about rotating the strike

Ishan Kishan, who played an explosive knock of 93 in the second ODI against South Africa yesterday, said in the post-match press conference that he might not be fluent in terms of rotating the strike, but he doesn’t think about it much because it’s not his strength.

During his knock of 93 which came off just 86 balls, Ishan played a lot of dot balls and at one point, it seemed as if he was a little bit behind the game as India was chasing a reasonable total of 279, but Ishan made up for all that by hitting 7 sixes in the middle phase of his innings and eventually ended up with a strike rate of more than 100.

South Africa had two left-arm spinners playing for them and Ishan Kishan took full toll of that in front of his home crowd in Ranchi, as he hit some delightful sixes, both off the front foot and back foot.

In the post-match press conference, Ishan was asked if rotating the strike is something that he considers a weak area of his game and if he would like to work on that. The left-hander said that different players have different strengths. Some players are very good in terms of rotating the strike and some are not that good. He is not the one who rotates the strike a lot, but when it comes to hitting sixes, nobody hits sixes as easily as him.

Ishan said that he focuses on his strength and doesn’t think much about the fact that he is not rotating the strike because he knows he can hit sixes easily when he is set.

Ishan Kishan hadn’t had a great time in the first ODI against South Africa as he had got out off the bowling of Keshav Maharaj on a difficult pitch in Lucknow, but the Indian team management backed him and gave him another opportunity in the second game which he made full use of.
