Ten Players you did not know once played for KXIP

Kings XI Punjab is one of the three franchises that haven’t won the IPL. They played the Final in IPL 2014 but since then they haven’t even qualified for the playoffs. It is also a franchise that is known for constant chopping and changing. They have changed their captain and coach so many times that it is difficult to keep a count of it.

They also keep changing their players which means they never have a stable team. Many players come to KXIP and disappear in a season or two. There are so many players who have played for this franchise that you might not even know some of them. So, let’s have a look at ten players you did not know once played for KXIP.

#1 Manvinder Bisla

Manvinder Bisla who was the hero of the 2012 IPL Final for KKR has been a part of the Kings XI Punjab franchise before that. The wicket-keeper batsman was picked in the KXIP side in 2010 when he got to play a lot of games.

Bisla played 10 games for KXIP in 2010 and scored 218 runs at an average of 21.8 with a highest of 75. He didn’t do anything significant for KXIP, but he had a great IPL Final in 2012 for KKR.

#2 James Faulkner

James Faulkner, the all-rounder from Australia has fallen out of favor from the IPL and the Australian side. Faulkner was a great player in his hay days when he used to pick up wickets with his slower ones and smash big sixes at the end of an innings.

Faulkner played the majority of his IPL career for RR and GL but in 2012 he did play a couple of games for KXIP. He scored 14 runs and picked up three wickets in those two games for KXIP. Faulkner doesn’t get picked in the IPL anymore.

#3 Mohammad Kaif

Mohammad Kaif who is a part of the coaching staff of the Delhi Capitals has played in the IPL in the initial seasons. He has played for three teams – KXIP, RR, and RCB and played the least number of games for KXIP.

Kaif who was a great fielder has played only four games for KXIP and he scored 28 runs at an average of 9.33. He didn’t have an impressive performance with the KXIP team.

#4 Taruwar Kohli

Taruwar Kohli was a part of the 2008 U-19 World Cup team which managed to win the World Cup under the captaincy of the current Indian captain Virat Kohli. Taruwar is a right-handed batsman and bowls medium pace.

He has played for two teams in the IPL with one of them being Kings XI Punjab. He has played only a couple of games for KXIP and managed to score only one run. He also played for Rajasthan Royals but didn’t do anything significant.

#5 Ajitesh Argal

Ajitesh Argal is also a member of the U19 World Cup team which won in 2008. Argal is a medium pacer who had the ability to bat down the order. Argal was the Man of the Match in the Final as he picked up two wickets in five overs.

Argal was signed by the Kings XI Punjab for the initial season but he didn’t get a game with the franchise. He is currently an Inspector in the Income Tax Department.

#6 Adrian Barath

Adrian Barath is a right-handed batsman from the West Indies who could bowl a bit of part-time off-spin. Barath has represented West Indies in all three formats. Barath was a part of the KXIP franchise in 2010.

He played 3 games and scored 42 runs at an average of 21. Barath didn’t get an opportunity with any other franchise in the IPL.

#7 Juan Theron

Juan Theron who is also known as Rusty Theron has played for three franchises in the IPL. He has played for Rajasthan Royals, Deccan Chargers, and Kings XI Punjab. Theron has played 7 games for KXIP in which he has picked up 6 wickets.

Theron famously bowled the Super Over for KXIP against CSK and helped them win the super over. He won the Man of the Match award in that game.

#8 Eoin Morgan

The current England white-ball and KKR captain was also a part of the KXIP franchise. Morgan played for KXIP in 2017 under the captaincy of Glenn Maxwell. He didn’t get many opportunities as he played only four games.

Morgan managed to score 65 runs in his four innings with a highest of 26. He had a great season last year with the KKR franchise.

#9 Dinesh Karthik

Another current KKR player was a part of the KXIP franchise. The wicket-keeper batsman has been a part of many franchises and played for KXIP in 2011.

He played all 14 games and managed to score only 282 runs at an average of 25.64. Over the last couple of years, Karthik has improved his T20 batting, and he can be dangerous in the end overs.

#10 VRV Singh

VRV Singh is a medium-pacer who has represented India in the Test and ODI format. He has played in the IPL only with the Kings XI Punjab franchise.

He played in the IPL from 2008 till 2010 when he got to play 19 games. In those 19 games, he picked up 12 wickets at an economy rate of 9.03. After 2010, VRV Singh hasn’t played in the IPL.
