Five Popular Indian batsmen who never scored an ODI century in Australia

After a great IPL season, all the focus will shift towards India’s tour of Australia where India will be playing three ODIs, three T20Is, and four Tests against Australia. It is going to be a great series as two high-quality teams will take on each other after a long time. The tour will start with the white-ball games and India will miss their premier opener Rohit Sharma who has been rested for the white-ball series. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the two key players when it comes to scoring runs in Australia in ODI cricket. Both of them have scored ODI centuries in Australia which many people haven’t managed to do. There are some famous Indian batsmen who have scored runs all over the world but couldn’t score an ODI century in Australia. Let’s have a look at five popular Indian batsmen who never scored an ODI century in Australia.

5. Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina was a really good batsman in the middle-order for India. He had the ability to play according to the situation of the game which is really important. The southpaw has played 18 ODIs in Australia but he hasn’t scored a single century.

He has scored three fifties with the highest score of 74. He scored 409 runs at an average of 27.27 and a strike-rate of 93.59 which is not a great record. Raina struggled a bit with the pace and bounce in Australia and that’s why he didn’t reach three figures down under.

4. Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag who has played more than 250 ODIs for India and has scored more than 8000 ODI runs hasn’t scored an ODI century in Australia. He has scored 15 centuries in his ODI career but none of them have come in Australia. He has played 20 matches and scored 450 runs with only one fifty which was 90.

That’s the only half-century Sehwag has in ODI cricket in Australia. Being an opener, you expect at least 2-3 centuries for Sehwag but he is one of the famous Indian batsmen who failed to score a century down under in ODI cricket.

3. Mohammad Azharuddin

Mohammad Azharuddin who led India in multiple World Cups and who has played more than 330 ODIs and almost scored close to 10,000 ODI runs hasn’t scored an ODI century in Australia.

Azharuddin has played 32 matches In Australia but he still failed to cross the three-figure mark. He scored 715 runs at an average of 29.79 which included four fifties and a highest score of 93*. Mohammad Azharuddin would have liked at least a couple of centuries in Australia.

2. Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid was the guy who was ready to do anything for his team. He batted at any position and in fact became ready to keep wickets as well in ODI cricket so that India can accommodate another batsman. Dravid has played more than 300 ODIs and scored more than 10,000 ODI runs but even he has failed to score a century in Australia in the ODI format.

In fact, Dravid hasn’t scored a century against Australia even in any other country. He has played 22 ODIs in Australia and scored 666 runs at an average of 33.3 with seven fifties to his name. Dravid would be disappointed with this record of not having an ODI century in Australia.

1. MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni who is the master of run-chases in white-ball cricket and who had mastered the ODI format has scored ten centuries but none of them have come in Australia. But the reason for that is the number at which he batted. Down the order very rarely does a batsman get an opportunity to score a century and that has been the case with MS Dhoni. He has played 35 matches in Australia and scored 1053 runs with an average of 47.86 which includes eight fifties.

He has the highest score of 88*. MS Dhoni who is a legend of the game never played for personal milestones and so it wouldn’t bother MS Dhoni that he doesn’t have an ODI century in Australia.
