England posts 506 runs on Day 1 of the Rawalpindi Test against Pakistan
With clouds hovering over the commencement of the first Test between Pakistan and England, no one would have expected such a dramatic end to the Day 1 of the Rawalpindi Test. It was a staggering effort from England as they batted aggressively and the first day of the game was nothing short of entertainment so far.
After opting to bat, the visitors won the toss and put on the show for ages and shattered records like it was piece of cake for them. They made full use of the pitch, which has nothing for bowlers in it and is a batting paradise. Openers Zack Crawley and Ben Duckett put on a show-up front as they activated their beast mode and played like T20 innings.
Both the batters smashed centuries and smashed 233 runs for the opening partnership. Before Ollie Pope (108) and Harry Brook (101*), who smashed six fours in six balls to Saud Shakeel, too stepped in and smashed centuries. Joe Root missed out to score big as he missed the sweep and scored 23 runs.
Skipper Ben Stokes made things worse for Pakistan as he came out all guns blazing and blasted unbeaten 34 runs in 15 balls before bad light forced umpires to call early stumps. In a road-like pitch, almost every batter has cashed on the opportunity and helped England post over 500 runs on the Day 1 of the Test match.
England break numerous records as they became the first team to score 500 on Day 1. They also are the first team to have 4 centurions on Day 1 and also registered the second-highest score on any day of a Test match.
