Sourav Ganguly picks the ideal replacement for KL Rahul in WTC Finals playing XI, leaves out SuryaKumar Yadav

It has been announced that KL Rahul has been ruled out of the WTC Finals. While Suryakumar Yadav is reported to be in the team as the backup, Sourav Ganguly had a different opinion. Here, we take a look as former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly picks the ideal replacement for KL Rahul in WTC Finals playing XI.

Ganguly names Rahul’s replacement in WTC Finals playing XI

At the moment, it looks like Suryakumar Yadav will replace KL Rahul in the WTC Finals squad. Considering the form that he is in, he would be a contender to be a part of the playing XI, as well. However, former India skipper Ganguly had a different opinion.

Saying that it is up to Rahul Dravid on whom to pick, Dada said, “It is for Rahul Dravid to decide, Rahane is there.” Ajinkya Rahane has also made a comeback to the Indian Test Team. It is mainly due to the injuries in the squad and also the fact that Rahane is high on confidence due to his performances in IPL 2023. Anyways, he would have been the primary option for Team India at No.5 against Australia in the WTC Finals.

A tough job for Team India

India will be without the services of Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant for the WTC Finals. Bumrah, Rahul and Pant were brilliant for India last time around in England. Hence, it will be a massive blow for the men in blue.

Especially against a full-strength Australian attack, the experience of the Indian batters and the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami should step up for the Indians. It will be interesting to see the playing XI of Team India. There are injury concerns with the likes of Umesh Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat, too. Hence, it won’t be a surprise if we have R Ashwin as the second spinner in the XI.
