The batter has met South Africa’s new white-ball coach, Rob Walter and talks related to his comeback are hogging the headlines. The batter last played for the team in the shortest format of the game against England in 2020.

Du Plessis announced his retirement from Tests in February 2021 but said that he would available to play for the country in the white-ball format. Since then he has been overlooked by the CSA and hasn’t been named in the team.

The dashing batter has been consistently scoring runs in the franchise cricket all around the world. He has scored 2747 runs in PSL, CPL, IPL, BPL, BBL and SA20 at an average of 33.91 in 90 innings to go with 4 centuries as well.

The right-hander was in staggering form in the recently concluded SA T20, where he captained Joburg Super kings and scored 369 at an average of 41.00 and a strike rate of 147.60. He was the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament.

Du Plessis will now captain Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2023. He joined the side in 2022 and led the side to the playoffs last season.
