The former Australian leg spinner Shane Warne has reminded his Twitter followers of a tweet that he had posted before the start of the T20 World Cup, where he had talked about two players, the England captain Eoin Morgan and the Australian opener David Warner.
Eoin Morgan and David Warner were getting severely criticized at that point of time for their dismal performances in the IPL and international cricket and Warne had thrown his weight on these two players saying that class players shouldn’t be written off just because they are out of form.
Shane Warne had also predicted in his tweet that he wouldn’t be taken aback at all if one out of Morgan and Warner ends up being the best player of the T20 World Cup, and that’s how it turned out to be. While Morgan still struggled with the bat, Warner delivered for Australia when it mattered the most.
Warner actually had a couple of low scores to his name at the start of the tournament as well, but the Australian team management stuck with him and kept him going at the top of the order. The veteran left-hander repaid the faith and played two back to back match-winning innings in the semifinal and the final to power Australia to the title.

David Warner was declared man of the tournament for scoring 289 runs at the strike rate of 146
There were some other players who had scored more runs than David Warner in the tournament and were contenders for the man of the tournament award, but it was the strike rate at which Warner scored his runs and the situations in which he scored them which earned him the award.
Warner scored 289 runs in the tournament at the strike rate of 146, while the top scorer of the tournament Babar Azam scored 303 runs at the strike rate of 126. Also, Babar couldn’t quite deliver for Pakistan in the semifinal game against Australia, where he scored 39 runs off 34 balls and failed to get Pakistan off to a rapid start.
