“Send Virat Kohli for the toss,” Indian fans reacted on twitter to the unique toss stat of Adelaide Oval which says captain who wins the toss loses the match

Rohit Sharma has been winning a lot of tosses since he has taken over India's captaincy in all formats

Adelaide Oval is slightly different from the other venues in Australia, not just because of its dimensions which make the square boundaries very short and the straight boundary huge, but also because of its toss stat which says that till date, every captain, who has won the toss at Adelaide Oval in a T20 international, has always ended up on the losing side in the actual game.

This stat is worrying for the Indian fans because Rohit Sharma has been winning a lot of tosses in this World Cup and the fans don’t want him to win another toss at Adelaide in the big semi-final against England later today.

The thing about Adelaide Oval is that since the square boundaries are short at this venue, it is very hard to defend scores and a lot of teams like to bowl first so that they can have a target in front of them and they can use the short square boundaries to their advantage.

Adelaide Oval will have a used pitch for India Vs England semi-final

But, there is another factor involved in the India Vs England semi-final. The match is going to be played on a used pitch and it is likely that the pitch will get slower and slower as the match goes on. So, if this toss superstition is not taken into account, both the teams might entertain the idea of batting first today because it’s a used pitch.

The Indian fans are, however, being superstitious about this unique toss stat at Adelaide and a few Indian fans jokingly suggested on twitter that India should think about sending Virat Kohli for the toss. When Virat Kohli was the captain of India, he had the reputation of losing a lot of tosses. Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, has an opposite reputation as he wins a lot of tosses.

Here is how the Indian fans reacted on twitter when they got to know that no captain, who has won the toss at Adelaide, has won a T20 international at this venue yet –

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
