Brian Lara holds the record for the highest individual score in a First Class game. He scored 501* back in 1994. Even in Test cricket, the stylist southpaw holds the record for getting the highest individual score. In 2004, he scored a stunning quadruple century against England. Since then, let alone Test cricket, no other cricketer even in first-class managed to hit a four hundred. However, English cricketer Sam Northeast has now finally reached the coveted milestone.

Batting first, Leicestershire made 584 in the first innings. Glamorgan needed a strong response and Sam Northeast provided the same. He scored 410 runs in 450 deliveries and this knock included 45 boundaries and three sixes. It was a brilliant display of batting skills as Glamorgan declared the innings at 795-5.

Players who have scored a 400 so far

It is extremely hard to construct a long knock, especially in a competitive league like County Cricket. However, a lot of players have achieved this in the past. Here is a look at the cricketers who have scored a 400 so far in the history of the game:

  • BC Lara – 501*
  • Hanif Mohammad – 499
  • DG Bradman – 452*
  • BB Nimbalkar – 443*
  • WH Ponsford – 437
  • WH Ponsford – 429
  • Aftab Baloch – 428
  • AC MacLaren – 424
  • Sam Northeast – 410*
  • GA Hick – 405*
  • BC Lara – 400*

Brian Lara is well on top of the list. Since Glamorgan declared the innings, Sam Northeast did not get the chance to challenge the record. While Lara holds the FC record, he also owns the record in Tests. In the current scenario, it would be almost impossible for anyone to topple this record.
