Tag team championship is something that sees two partners showcasing all their might and fury to seize the titles. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are the current WWE Tag team champions as they beat the Usos to clinch the championships. This has been a title that has been there since the dawn of the time and with every brand change, every promotion change and most importantly with a change of era, this is one championship that has remained eternal.
With iconic names like the Brothers of Destruction, DX, the Dudley Brothers, the Hardy Brothers, the list that has so far been doing the rounds would leave you in awe. However, when it comes to the reigns, not all of them made it to the longest days of glory. Here are the five longest reigning world tag-team champions in the history of WWE.
#1 Demolition (Ax and Smash) – 478 days
One of the two teams to have kept the tag team titles for more than a year, Demolition that featured the likes of Ax and Smash spanned their reign for a staggering 478 days. They defeated the Strike Force comprising Santana and Rick Martel in WrestleMania IV to kickstart their reign in a match-up that spanned for 12 minutes 33 seconds.
#2 The Valiant Brothers (Jimmy and Johnny Valiant) – 370 days
Back in the 1974, the Valiant Days fought their way through a ton load adversaries where Jimmy and Johnny would go onto seize the title after a relentless battle on one of the house shows at Hamburg, Philadelphia. The two were deemed as one of the greatest tag teams but once their reign was over, they somehow fizzled away to oblivion.
#3 Mr. Fuji and Professor Tanaka – 337 days
Not all tag teams have a name like that of Mr. Fuji and Professor Tanaka. They were an extremely well orchestrated pair and the way they would fight their wars were simply mind-bending. They would rock and roll in their own grappling fashion before eventually kickstarting a title reign of 337 days that got into motion in a house show at Philadelphia.
#4 The British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and Dyamite Kid) – 294 days
Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid made quite a name for themselves during their heydays in the WWE industry. They had a fine run as the The British Bulldogs got the better of the Dream Team comprising Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake who were accompanied by Johhny Valiant. In a match that continued for 13 minutes and three seconds also saw Lou Albano and the iconic metal and rock singer, Ozzy Osbourne siding with the Bulldogs.
#5 The North-South Connection (Adrian Adonis and Dick Murdoch) – 279 days
Securing the titles in Championship Wrestling, Adrian Adonis and Dick Murdoch would go onto help the North South Connection win their tag team championship and the pair would wrestle with their flesh and bones on the line to keep the title with them that stayed for a staggering 279 days in those crude days of wrestling.
