Rohit Sharma’s 11-year-old Tweet Viral After He Becomes ODI Captain

Rohit Sharma has officially become the new white-ball captain of the Indian cricket team. The BCCI had earlier named him captain only in the T20 international format, but now, The Hitman has become the skipper of the ODI team as well. Rohit will take over the reins of the ODI team in the upcoming ODI series against the South African cricket team.

It is a little surprising to see the BCCI change the ODI skipper. Virat Kohli did an excellent job as the captain in the 50-over format. However, it seems the board wants only one white-ball captain. So they have elected Rohit Sharma as the ODI captain.

Soon after the BCCI named Rohit Sharma as the new captain of India’s ODI team, one of his old tweets resurfaced on social media. Rohit posted it back in the year 2010. It seems like Rohit wanted to answer the trolls who were questioning his position in the Indian T20 World Cup 2010 squad. Here’s what Rohit tweeted:

“People have questioned whether I deserve to be on the team for the world cup, I prefer to answer with my bat.”

Rohit Sharma will probably captain India in the 2023 Cricket World Cup

The 2023 Cricket World Cup will happen in India. Fans thought Virat Kohli would lead the team, but now it seems likely that Rohit Sharma will play the skipper’s role for the hosts. The last time the Cricket World Cup happened on Indian soil was back in 2011. India beat Sri Lanka in that World Cup Final to become the first team in cricket history to win the World Cup on home soil.

The Cricket World Cup 2023 is less than two years away. Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid will aim to start the planning and selection process for the World Cup soon. The first series for India under Rohit’s captaincy will be away from home. South Africa have struggled in the 50-over format off late, as they lost their first-ever ODI match to the Ireland cricket team earlier this year. It will be exciting to see how the Indian ODI team performs under their new skipper.
