The IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions concluded recently. One of the top purchases for Royal Challengers Bangalore was Josh Hazlewood. The franchises shelled out INR 7.75 crores for the Australian speedster. The player is in good form at the moment. He has climbed up the charts in T20 cricket, as well. Until recently, Josh Hazlewood was restricted to the five-day format. However, after he got opportunities in the other two formats, he has been making it count. At the moment, he is in the Top 10 rankings of all the formats of the game. While he stands at No.8 in Tests, he takes the No.2 spot in both T20I and ODI formats.

Josh Hazlewood has been on fire in the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka. While he collected four wickets in the first encounter, he was the Player of the Match in the second game for his three-wicket haul. He then dished out an economical bowling performance and picked a wicket in the third match. This has helped him to climb four spots to overtake his RCB teammate Wanindu Hasaranga to stand at No.2 in T20Is.

The performance of RCB at the auctions has evoked some mixed reactions. However, after a long time, the franchise was successful in constructing a good bowling attack. While they had retained Mohammed Siraj before the auctions, they added Josh Hazlewood and Harshal Patel to the pace attack. Josh will support Siraj in the powerplay and Harshal will aid the Hyderabadi pacer at the death.
In the spin department, RCB have signed Wanindu Hasaranga. Although they would have liked an extra established spinner, the likes of Shahbaz Ahmed, Mahipal Lomror and Glenn Maxwell seem sufficient to provide a few overs to the spin attack. Hence, RCB has a good bowling attack for the upcoming campaign.
