“Rank Tuner No Problem”, Twitter reacts as Pant smashes the fastest fifty by an Indian in Tests beating Kapil Dev

Rishabh Pant has been in sensational form in recent months. He topped it off with a record-breaking innings on Sunday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Batting against Sri Lanka, Pant hit a fifty of just 28 balls, thereby scoring the fastest fifty for India in Tests. In this article, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as Rishabh Pant smashes the fastest fifty by an Indian in Tests beating Kapil Dev.

The fastest fifty by an Indian in Tests

Former India captain Kapil Dev had held the record for scoring the fastest fifty for India in Test cricket. The all-rounder had achieved the feat against Pakistan in Karachi in 1982. Kapil Dev had taken just 30 balls to reach his half-century. Shardul Thakur had come close to this record when he recorded a 31-ball fifty against England in 2021. However, his Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has now gotten past the record.

Pant scored seven boundaries and two huge hits out of the park to complete his fifty of just 28 deliveries. Despite a few quick wickets, Pant did not slow down and kept taking on the bowlers. This approach paid him dividends as he went on to score a quickfire fifty. In the first innings, he had made 39 runs from 26 balls before he got out. He had a good chance to break the record on Day 1 but it was on Day 2 that he finally broke it.
