The Father of Rajat Patidar has revealed that the right-handed top-order batsman actually had to get married in June. The family had planned the marriage function after Patidar went unsold in the IPL mega auction, but the marriage date had to be postponed after he got an offer from the RCB management to join the team as a replacement player for Luvnith Sisodia.
Rajat Patidar was a part of the RCB squad for the last IPL season, but he struggled on UAE surfaces and couldn’t deliver on the promises in the second leg of IPL 2021, after which RCB overlooked him in the mega auction and signed other young players. However, as fate would have it, RCB had to turn back to Patidar again since Luvnith Sisodia got injured.
When Patidar was signed as a replacement, it was believed he would be on the bench as Sisodia was not a part of RCB’s playing XI anyway and Patidar had come in only as a replacement for Sisodia. But, when the RCB opener Anuj Rawat lost form at the top of the order, the RCB management made a slight tweak and changed the batting position of the former captain Virat Kohli.
Rajat Patidar has been batting at no. 3 for RCB since Virat Kohli started opening
As Kohli moved from no. 3 to the opening slot, Patidar was brought into the playing XI to bat at no. 3 and this time around, Patidar found his feet from the very first game. The tempo at which Patidar batted at no. 3 for RCB allowed them to maintain the momentum in a lot of key games and his signing proved to be one of the main reasons why RCB is still alive in the tournament.
Talking to the Indian Express recently, the father of Rajat Patidar said that a hotel had been booked and the date had been finalized for Patidar’s marriage function before he got the offer from RCB to join in as Sisodia’s replacement mid-way through the IPL.
All the plans of the Patidar family had to be put aside as Rajat Patidar rushed to join RCB. Now, the postponed marriage function will take place in July.
