Chennai Super Kings, as usual, are one of the first franchises to start preparations for the upcoming IPL season. They do that every year and the same has happened for the forthcoming campaign, too. CSK will be under pressure to satisfy the fans
The four-time champions did not have a great outing in IPL 2022. For the fans of the franchise, it was a disappointing season but there are expectations that CSK would do better in 2023. They would play half of their league games at Chepauk. This is a stadium that is a fortress for the franchise. The composition of the squad also suits this venue and hence, CSK will be hoping to do well.
The team does have a few issues with the team balance. The middle-order of the squad, barring Ravindra Jadeja, is not in great form. Ben Stokes and Ruturaj Gaikwad will have to do the bulk of the work in the batting department. With the ball, CSK’s main issue will be at the death. With Dwayne Bravo having retired, CSK does not have too many reliable options at the death. The fitness of Deepak Chahar will also be a concerning aspect for the team management.
