“Prithvi Shaw, That’s the Tweet”, Twitter reacts as Prithvi Shaw makes a comeback into the T20 squad against New Zealand

India will play New Zealand in three Twenty20 Internationals, and Mumbai opener Prithvi Shaw has been selected to play. After being cut from the team in 2021 despite his success in the domestic setup, Shaw has won his spot back in the squad. Shaw recently made a spectacular statement to the selectors by scoring 379 against Assam in the Ranji Trophy.

Shaw will receive his due, as hinted at by the Chairman of Selectors Chetan Sharma in the T20 World Cup. In the absence of Kane Williamson and Tim Southee, New Zealand will be captained by spinner Mitchell Santner. Shaw has finally gained his place back in the team.

Since the Indian management has opted to bench Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for back-to-back T20I series at home, Hardik Pandya will once again captain the squad with Suryakumar Yadav as his deputy.

Both Rohit and Virat were left out of the T20Is against Sri Lanka in early January, and it seems like India will continue with the same concept in the lead-up to the ODI World Cup, in an effort to either control the workload of the veterans or phase them out, respectively.

Indiaโ€™s squad for NZ T20Is:ย Hardik Pandya (C), Suryakumar Yadav (vc), Ishan Kishan (wk), R Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Y Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, Shivam Mavi, Prithvi Shaw, Mukesh Kumar
