The Jharkhand cricketer has had a tough run with Team India till now. Ishan was a part of the Indian squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup. After the tournament, in the absence of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, Ishan was groomed as the opener. The southpaw actually made good use of opportunities. However, soon, Ishan started to lose chances. Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav started opening the innings and after KL Rahul returned, he became the preferred option. Soon, Ishan had to exit from the squad and did not find a place in the 2022 T20 World Cup squad.
With such a lean period, it was important for Ishan to step up. He did so by scoring 93 runs from 84 balls in a chase of 288. The left-hander scored four boundaries and seven sixes to help India cross the line at his home ground. It was a stunning knock full of intent and left a lot of fans and experts impressed. This knock will help the player with a lot of confidence.

If Ishan can continue this momentum, he can easily seal his spot in the Indian ODI Team. With the ODI World Cup happening in 2023, Ishan will personally want to come up with more such statement knocks.
