Debutants Gujarat Titans have assembled a strong squad for the IPL 2022 season. The Ahmedabad-based franchise wowed everyone by signing Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill ahead of the mega auction.
They signed some more big names at the mega auction. While the squad does not look so strong as some of the other teams, if the players play to their full potential, the Titans can be one of the top teams this season. Here’s a look at their strongest possible XI for IPL 2022.
Openers – Jason Roy and Wriddhiman Saha (WK)
Jason Roy and Wriddhiman Saha played together for the Sunrisers Hyderabad last season. They will don the Gujarat Titans jersey this season. Both have performed well as opening batters in the IPL. Hence, it should not be a surprise if the Titans use them as openers.
Middle-order – Shubman Gill, Vijay Shankar, David Miller
Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar are two batters who have played international cricket for India. They know how to anchor the innings. Having performed well in domestic cricket, Shankar and Gill will be keen to continue in the same vein for Gujarat Titans. David Miller will be the first explosive batter in the GT lineup.
All-rounders – Hardik Pandya, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan
Gujarat signed two-star all-rounders in Rashid Khan and Hardik Pandya ahead of the auction. They have given depth to the lineup by signing Rahul Tewatia who can change the game single-handedly on his day.
Bowlers – Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami and R Sai Kishore
The bowling lineup looks much stronger than batting. If Lockie Ferguson and Mohammed Shami manage to stay fit for the full season, GT can trouble their opponents. Sai Kishore can keep a check on the run-flow in the middle overs alongside the experienced star Rashid Khan.
