Chennai Super Kings did not have a great outing in IPL 2022. Hence, they are looking to make a strong return to the competition. The franchise did have a decent auction, making some key signings. On that note, here, we take a look at the playing 11 of CSK for IPL 2023.
Openers: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ben Stokes
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ben Stokes are likely to be the openers in the playing 11 of CSK for IPL 2023. While Ruturaj is certain to start for CSK in all the games, it is unlikely that Devon Conway will open the batting for CSK next season. With Ben Stokes on the roster, the team must make the best use of the player. That can be done by having him in the top order. Hence, this is likely to be the combination for CSK.

Middle-Order: Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni (C&WK)
CSK had a few struggles in the middle order last season. They have not made a lot of changes to this department at the auctions. Hence, we can expect Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni to form the core of the middle order. The all-rounders, as expected, will also feature in this department.
All-Rounders: Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube and Dwaine Pretorius
It will be a strong all-rounders unit for the likely playing 11 of CSK for IPL 2023. CSK is known for building the squad around all-rounders. It is a trademark set up by MS Dhoni. In this regard, Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja are certain to be a part of the XI. While Shivam Dube will come in as the spin basher, Dwaine Pretorius will replace Dwayne Bravo as the death overs bowler and lower-order power-hitter.
Bowlers: Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana and Mukesh Choudhary
Deepak Chahar missed IPL 2022 and will be keen to make a mark next season. Apart from his role in the powerplay, he will also be expected to do the job at the death. Maheesh Theekshana will lead the spin attack while Mukesh will be the specialist in the powerplay.
