Predicting India’s likely playing 11 for the Asian Games 2023

On Friday, BCCI announced the Indian squad for the Asian Games 2023. As expected, none of the seniors and the regulars in the ODI Squad made it to the team. Nevertheless, it would be a fine opportunity for some of the Indian youngsters to make their mark at the international level. On that note, here, we predict India’s likely playing 11 for the Asian Games 2023.

Openers: Ruturaj Gaikwad (C) and Yashasvi Jaiswal

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the skipper, will open the batting in India’s likely playing 11 for the Asian Games 2023. While Ruturaj might be happy about getting a chance to lead Team India, in a subtle way, it could also mean that he is not in the plans for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Jaiswal is in top form and will partner Rutu at the top.

Middle-Order: Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma (WK)

Yes, he was not in great form in IPL 2023 but Rahul Tripathi did well for India before that. He is likely to reclaim the No.3 spot while Tilak Varma might bat at No.4. In the finishing department, India is likely to have the duo of Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma. While Jitesh might come further up the order, Rinku’s main task will be take on the pacers in the final overs.

Bowlers: Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan

Ravi Bishnoi will lead the spin attack and that is a role that he might don for the senior side, as well, in the future. In the pace department, Arshdeep Singh will be the lead player while Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar might also be a part of the setup. Shivam Mavi would also come in if the conditions suit him.
