The CSA T20 League is making fast moves towards the first edition next year. As per various reports, the auctions could be held as early as next month. Most of the teams have already made their pre-auction picks. These players will form the core of the squad. A few franchises, in the process, might have also signed their captains. On that note, here, we predict the captains of all six franchises in the CSA T20 League.
Faf du Plessis – Johannesburg franchise
The Johannesburg franchise, owned by the owners of Chennai Super Kings, has got Faf du Plessis onboard. Moeen Ali is another cricketer whom the franchise has reportedly hired.
In IPL 2022 Auctions, CSK tried to sign Faf du Plessis but could not. Faf went to Royal Challengers Bangalore and led them to the Top 4. Now, the management has got a chance to get the player back to its camp. With Faf having massive experience captaining T20 sides and with the tournament based out of South Africa, there is no doubt that he would be given the captaincy responsibility.
David Miller – Paarl franchise
Barbados Royals recently announced David Miller as their new skipper. The southpaw also led South Africa recently. Moreover, he is in good form and this confidence could help him skipper the side.
The Paarl Royals have already hired David Miller and Jos Buttler. The Englishman also is a serious contender for the role. However, Miller is too big a domestic signing to not give the captaincy. Therefore, he is likely to take up the task.

Quinton de Kock – RPSG Durban
The former skipper of South Africa, Quinton de Kock was one of the primary signings of RPSG Durban. Jason Holder is also one of the signings by the franchise.
QDK holds a truckload of experience in the T20 format. The most important member of the XI, he is likely to get the opportunity to lead the franchise.
Kagiso Rabada – MI Cape Town
Of the signings that MI Cape Town has made before the auctions, Rabada and Dewald Brevis hail from the home nation. Rashid Khan, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran are big names but may not be suited to lead a South African domestic team.
MI Cape Town might not have enough purse to hire a cricketer who is capable of leading the franchise. Therefore, Kagiso Rabada seems the best option. Rabada anyways has the experience and the skills to excel as a leader.

Aiden Markram – Gqeberha franchise
The owners of Sunrisers Hyderabad have reportedly signed Aiden Markram as one of their marquee signings. He will surely be one of the main options to lead the squad unless the franchise gets someone of the stature of Kane Williamson in the squad.
Markram has had good enough experience playing for South Africa. Taking up a captaincy role is the next step in his career. This move could also help the owners with their outfits in the IPL.
Temba Bavuma
Temba Bavuma is the captain of the South African T20I Team. Yes, his batting in T20I cricket might not have a lot of admirers but as a skipper, he has done a good job.
Since it’s a domestic league, Bavuma can be backed to do well as an opener. One of the teams could also hire him as the skipper. The owners of the Delhi Capitals could do that because their marquee signing Anrich Nortje does not have experience in the captaincy department.
