Roman Reigns returned to WWE television programming at the Biggest Party of the Summer, WWE SummerSlam. However, in just two weeks, he was subjected to a beatdown by his former Enforcer, Solo Sikoa and his new Bloodline. Since then, The OTC has not been seen on WWE TV, and a recent comment from a veteran WWE commentator might have confirmed that Reigns would be absent for an extended period of time.
What did the WWE commentator say that hints towards the extended absence of Roman Reigns?
Before Roman Reigns came back to WWE, Solo Sikoa was engaged in a heated feud with the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes, for his title. Due to Reigns’ interference, Solo was unsuccessful in defeating Rhodes. The American Nightmare then moved on to another challenge and hand-picked his ally, Kevin Owens, for a championship match at WWE’s recent Premium Live Event, Bash in Berlin.
At Bash in Berlin, Cody Rhodes was able to put down Kevin Owens to retain the Undisputed WWE title. Right after, veteran WWE commentator Michael Cole, who called the action, said that Solo Sikoa is next in line for Rhodes’ championship. This could mean that WWE might have sidelined the Roman Reigns and Solo program for now, which would further mean that Reigns would be absent for an extended timeframe.
Moreover, Roman Reigns had been advertised for SmackDown’s premiere episode on the USA network next week, only to be pulled out from them. Roman Reigns was last seen on SmackDown a few weeks ago, where he almost reclaimed his sacred Ula-Fala from Solo Sikoa. However, the returning Jacob Fatu decimated Reigns with the new Bloodline and left him beaten down.
With Roman Reigns possibly having an extended absence from WWE television programming, we will have to wait and see if he does return and resume his rivalry with Solo Sikoa.
