India is all set to kick start the year 2023 with the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The first game will be played on 3rd January at iconic Wankhede Stadium followed by the second game slated to take place on 5th January in Pune. The last and final game will be played on 7th January in Rajkot.
The Indian T20 squad for the series against Sri Lanka is yet to be announced. It is expected that there’ll be a transition in the team with a lot of youngsters getting the opportunities. And it is highly expected that seniors will not be part of the series with Hardik Pandya leading the young guns.
With the T20 squad yet to be announced, it is learned as per reports that Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are likely to miss the T20I series against Sri Lanka. While the Indian skipper is recovering from the injury, Rahul reportedly has taken leave to get married.

Rohit is likely to be available for the ODI series, which will be played between the 10th to 15th of January. It’s fair to say that India’s focus will be on the 50-over format this year, considering the Cricket World Cup 2023. After Sri Lanka, India will take New Zealand in ODIs as well from the 18th to the 24th of January.
