‘Our first responsibility is to our country’-Rashid Khan wants to play more for Afghanistan in international cricket

Rashid Khan, the leader of Afghanistan‘s spin attack, has said that the squad does not consider how their opponents see them since they prefer to concentrate on their own performance.

On Saturday in Dubai, Khan and company got their Asia Cup campaign off to a winning start with a straightforward eight-wicket victory against Sri Lanka. The island country had only been able to score 105 before. Afghanistan then chased the target in 10.1 overs.

What did Rashid Khan say?

Khan made some remarks in anticipation of their second match against Bangladesh. He said that even though the Afghanistan players play a significant amount of franchise cricket, the players’ primary focus is on international cricket. The player was cited by NDTV as saying the following:

“We want to play a lot more international cricket so that young players have enough opportunities to go on the field and develop their skills. Although each of us competes in a separate league, our first responsibility is to our country. We want to avoid thinking about the match that took place before this one and instead concentrate on the next encounter. It is in the past. The degree to which other teams take us seriously or not is not within our control.”

Even though he did not take any wickets against Sri Lanka, the 23-year-old’s bowling was efficient, as shown by his stats of 4-0-12-0. Fazalhaq Farooqi, who is a left-arm pacer, was the most successful of the Afghan bowlers, with statistics of 3.4-0-11-3.

Rashid Khan has said that he views himself as a bowling all-rounder who can bat at any position in the batting order. The leg-spinner pondered on Hardik Pandya‘s impressive performance against Pakistan and took notice of how the all-rounder for Team India has elevated his game.

“We want to give the game our all while still having fun with it. I can’t say that I’m good at everything. A player who is good with both the bat and the ball and who can bat from a variety of places has a lot of potential. When you have players of Hardik Pandya’s calibre in your squad, it provides the captain with a great deal of flexibility in his decision-making. The results of his labor have been positive. When I played with him the year before, I believe he has made a lot of progress as a leader in the IPL since then.”
