“We expect him to be a massive part of that,” England Managing Director Rob Key Backs Jofra Archer to shine in Ashes 2023

Ashes 2023 will begin from 16th June.

England managing director Rob Key backs pacer Jofra Archer to have a massive impact in the upcoming Ashes 2023. He said that they have a great set of bowlers and they believe that Archer at some point will play a huge part.

“I think Jofra at some point will have a massive impact in the Ashes,” says Rob Key

Ashes will begin from 16th June in Edgbaston, which will be followed by the second game on 28th June at Lord’s. The third game will be played on July 6th in Leeds whereas the last two games are slated to take place on July 19th and July 27th on Manchester and the Oval respectively.

It is likely that Jofra Archer will be back in the mix for the English set-up. The pacer has returned to cricket after a prolonged injury. He made a comeback in the IPL 2023 and has been bowling to full flow. He faced an elbow injury and was out of the action for two years.

Jofra Archer hasn’t played Test cricket since February 2021. He has 42 wickets in 13 matches since making his debut in 2019. It is expected that he will be back in the Ashes 2023.

Talking about selection, Rob Key said that they are hopeful that he will be available for the selection. He also added that Test against Ireland will make them ready.

“We’re going to select for the Ireland test, so hopefully he’ll be available for selection for that, at this point I’m assuming he will be. Then we’ve got a crop of bowlers, Ben has spoken about how he wants eight bowlers, at least, ready for the Ashes, which we’ve got and more actually,”

“They’re all in different parts, Jofra’s part of the fast crew with Mark Wood and Ollie Stone people like that, then you’ve got (Ollie) Robinson, Stuart Broad, Jimmy (James) Anderson those guys. We expect Jofra to be a massive part of that, and I think Jofra at some point will have a massive impact in the Ashes.”
