“Baby AB For LSG”- KL Rahul Heaps Praise On Ayush Badoni After His Half-century On IPL Debut

The Lucknow Super Giants played their first-ever match in the Indian Premier League yesterday evening against the debutant Gujarat Titans team. Both teams gave it all they had, and eventually, GT won the game by five wickets with two balls to spare. While the Gujarat Titans won the game, Ayush Badoni gained everyone’s attention with his impressive performance.

Badoni made his Indian Premier League debut yesterday. In his first match only, the youngster had to bat in a tough situation. The quartet of KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Manish Pandey and Evin Lewis departed to the dressing room early. Deepak Hooda and Badoni then rebuilt the innings.

The two Indian players batted slowly in the beginning before switching gears and attacking the Gujarat Titans bowlers. LSG finished with a 150+ total thanks to half-centuries from Ayush Badoni and Deepak Hooda.

During his first innings in the IPL, Badoni smashed big shots off Rashid Khan, Hardik Pandya and Lockie Ferguson. He showed his 360 degree skills by smacking shots across the park, reminding some fans about AB de Villiers.

So happy for Ayush Badoni as he grabbed the opportunity: KL Rahul

Speaking to host broadcasters after losing his first match as the Lucknow Super Giants skipper, KL Rahul talked about the positives coming from the game. He was satisfied with the way Ayush Badoni performed. Here’s what he was quoted as saying by CricTracker:

“He’s (Badoni) baby AB for us. He has been phenomenal from the first day. For a little boy, he packs a punch and plays 360 degrees, so happy for him as he grabbed the opportunity. He did well under pressure and hopefully, he can continue doing that.”
